New Qi2 Wireless Charger Details Revealed
The Android Authority has learned first-hand the latest facts about the new Qi2 wireless charger standard from Paul Struhsaker, head of marketing at the Wireless Power Consortium.

Struchsaker said that the Qi2 standard will focus on smartphones, headphones, as well as smartwatches. With regard to the latter, there are a number of difficulties, since so far not all manufacturers are willing to come to a unified solution, but the problem is solvable. As it was known earlier, the first Qi2 standard memory will produce a power of 15 watts. In a year and a half, an improved Qi2.1 standard will be introduced, allowing you to charge gadgets even faster.

All equipment that supports Qi2 will undergo verification and authentication procedures. In addition, a company logo will be applied to each such gadget, which will allow them to be quickly identified. When using this wireless charger, the user will not worry about possible harm to his device. The presence of authentication will also make it possible to protect the owner from falsification.

The first devices supporting Qi2 should be released at the end of 2023. In 2024, most of the gadgets will already have support for the standard. Struchsaker also said that in 2025 another standard called Ki will appear. It will be designed for kitchen appliances that will be wirelessly powered by electricity straight from the countertop. At the first stages, Ki technology will be used in top-end expensive solutions.
