The new technology is built on the basis of speech recognition and synthesis systems. At the same time, the interlocutors will hear not a machine voice, but a smart algorithm voice individually selected for a specific user.

Microsoft has shared details on how the translation engine works on the Skype blog. Thanks to her, each of the interlocutors during the video session will be able to turn on the translation of his voice, after translation, the program will imitate his voice for greater naturalness of communication.

Interestingly, the artificial intelligence algorithm can determine the language of users. In the course of work, speech recognition, translation and voicing of the generated text takes place. At the same time, AI adapts the electronic voice to the distinctive features of the user's diction. If necessary, this adjustment can be removed, and then the interlocutor will be able to hear a typical "robotic" voice.
