American scientists have created a unique patch that heals wounds more effectively
Stanford University researchers have developed an electrical patch. It will help you deal with chronic wounds. Healing time compared to conventional patches will increase by 25% and skin recovery time by a whopping 50%.

The smart patch has a two-layer configuration. The upper part consists of a thin polymer film with a thickness of 100 microns. Electronic components are applied to it. The underside consists of a hydrogel that is similar in texture to human skin. He will be in contact with the wound. The biosensors in the patch will continuously monitor the electrical impedance and temperature of the wound. Thus, the inflammation time will decrease. When in contact with a wound that is difficult to heal, the electrical simulator will apply a weak current to the tissue. Due to this, the wound will heal faster, and the infection will decrease due to the increase in the rate of transition of keratinocytes into the wound and the destruction of bacteria.

The patch will work in conjunction with a smartphone due to the integrated antenna. The user will be able to follow the healing process directly from the device screen without having to remove the bandage. When the patch needs to be removed, the hydrogel will easily peel off from the skin due to heating to +40 degrees.

The developers intend to increase the area of the dressing, put more sensors into it to measure pH, metabolites and biomarkers. They also want to optimize production costs.
