The notorious Illumination studio, which made a name for itself on the series Despicable Me, Minions, The Secret Life of Pets, and Sing, is responsible for the development of the cartoon.
The trailer was revealed during the Nintendo Direct event. The video featured not only Mario himself, but also Princess Peach and even Donkey Kong.
The main character Mario in the cartoon will be voiced by Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World). Also in the voice acting cast are Anya-Taylor Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogen and others.
The premiere of the cartoon will take place on October 7, 2023.
