Scientists have created a tissue that can store energy from the movement of the body
Specialists from Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have developed a material that converts the energy of human movement into electricity. A fragment of this material with an area of 3x4 cm can power a hundred LED bulbs.

The fabric generates electricity through the piezoelectric effect. The main component of the material is poly(vinylidene fluoride)-co-hexafluoropropylene. This polymeric substance, when pressed and compressed, is capable of converting mechanical stress into electricity. Additional elements of the fabric are spandex and rubber-like material, providing strength, flexibility and water resistance of the fabric.

In the role of an electric generator, scientists used a printed tensile electrode. Printing took place using a kind of "ink", which included silver and styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene rubber. After obtaining the electrode, it was attached to a fragment of a nanofabric consisting of a polymer sheet and lead-free perovskite elements. During testing, the new material showed a very good output power of 400 W at 1.63 µA•cm2 and 2.34 W•m2. It is worth noting that the device will work even after washing, bending and spinning.

The creators expect that their development can be implemented in everyday clothes or shoe soles. The movement of the human body will generate electricity that will power smartphones and other wearable gadgets.
