Arc Alchemist graphics cards will be available in the second quarter of 2022
Intel has confirmed the release of Arc Alchemist discrete graphics accelerators in the 2nd quarter of this year. The company expects to fully compete in this segment with AMD and NVIDIA.

Video cards of the Arc family are designed for use in gaming PCs. Earlier in 2020, Intel released the Iris Xe Max mobile video adapter, marking the company's return to the discrete graphics segment. At the start of last year, Intel announced its first discrete desktop device, the DG1, a budget option for OEM partners.

Initially, several mobile graphics cards will become available in the 1st quarter, which will complement the line of 12th generation Core chipsets presented at CES 2022. Next will be the turn of video adapters already for stationary PCs. Professional accelerators for workstations will be the last to enter the market - this will happen in the 3rd quarter of this year.

At the same time, Intel announced its Arc GPU-based streaming platform called Project Endgame. With its help, users will be able to access video cards in the cloud storage with minimal delay. It’s not yet clear what this will look like, but it can be assumed that the company will provide the possibility of renting GPUs in the cloud, or the streaming service will become a full-fledged cloud gaming platform with a subscription.

Intel also began developing the 3rd generation Arc GPU architecture, codenamed Celestial. It is worth noting that at the moment even the first iteration of Alchemist GPUs has not yet been released, not to mention the second generation of Battlemage chips also under development. Interestingly, Celestial is positioned as a solution for the most advanced users. In this regard, it can be assumed that Intel plans to release a device that will reach the level of the competing GeForce RTX 3090i or AMD RX 6900XT. Other details about all the listed video cards from Intel, including the timing of their release, are unknown.

Nevertheless, the company intends to produce 4 million discrete video cards by the end of this year, and in the future it will actively work to increase production volumes. Intel hopes that in 2026 their turnover will reach the $10 billion mark. In addition, the company plans to regain its leading position in the processor market by 2025.
