NVIDIA introduced a new technology to improve graphics in games
NVIDIA has developed a new technology for enhancing the visual quality of games called DLDSR. Unlike DLSS, it will not reduce the original render quality, but rather increase it before resizing to the normal display resolution.

DLDSR, like Dynamic Super Resolution, will provide rendering at an actually higher resolution than the screen. Next, the frames will be compressed to the required values, the visual will be improved by smoothing the edges and enhancing the detail.

Compared to the standard Dynamic Super Resolution, the new AI-based algorithm has less input data requirements, while the load is not on the GPU, but on the tensor cores. Because of this, the technology will only become available to owners of GeForce RTX graphics cards. Also, the developers announced support for most of the modern games.

The technology was demonstrated using the 2017 shooter Prey as an example. The game was played in standard definition 1080p and using 4K DSR and 1620p DLDSR. In the third case, the graphics looked the best, and the fps value dropped by only two points.

The DLDSR driver will be released on January 14th.
