Microsoft has released a special Windows 11 with the SE index, which will compete with Chrome OS. Its target audience will be students from schools, universities and other educational institutions. The special edition includes a suite of office programs and is intended for budget class notebooks.

Windows 11 SE is positioned as the best option for educational institutions. The publication will be distributed purely as a pre-installation for fresh devices. It also differs from the base OS in the absence of an application market. Nevertheless, system administrators will be able to install third-party software from the "white list" - this list of applications will become known later, but it will definitely include Zoom and Google Chrome.

Windows 11 SE will receive a full set of Microsoft 365 programs and a standard Edge browser with plug-in support for Google Chrome. The system also provides for saving files to the cloud storage OneDrive with offline access. It is also worth noting the lack of widgets, since, according to the developers, they will interfere with the normal educational process.

In addition, in the SE version, several layouts in Snap have been removed in favor of a mode that allows you to place applications side by side. All software also opens in full screen by default. The operating system will be installed only on budget laptops for educational institutions. The start of sales of devices with pre-installed Windows 11 SE is scheduled for the end of this year.
