UN experts report showed the harmful influence of humans on the planet's climate
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has provided a detailed report on physical climate change. The text of the document indicates how the world has changed due to the climate crisis caused by human actions. The work was carried out by over 230 authors from sixty-six countries.

The data collected indicate that extreme natural events, ranging from floods to drought waves, have worsened. The main reason for their increase was the intense emission of greenhouse gases, mainly CO2 and methane.

This report was last prepared in 2013. Over the years, researchers have improved their skills in assessing the impact of climate change on selected weather events. For example, in July, extremely high temperatures in the Pacific Northwest and Southwest of Canada and the United States contributed to the destruction of roads and the death of several hundred people. Within two weeks, an international team of experts was able to understand that extreme heat could be "almost impossible" if there were no climate change.

A new report from the UN commission says that almost all areas of the globe, with the exception of the North and South Poles, have experienced a surge in extreme heat since the 50s of the last century. Also, all over the planet at the moment, bursts of heat are observed 5 times more often than in the pre-industrial period of 1850-1900. High temperatures, among other things, exacerbate drought in certain regions. Droughts that have occurred before once every ten years are now 70% more frequent than in the pre-industrial era.

The climate crisis also negatively affects the occurrence of storms and floods. Heavy rains, which previously occurred once a decade, now occur 30% more often. In addition, an increase in the number of severe storms of category 3 and higher was found, affecting the intensification of hurricanes and typhoons.

Decisive action to limit the use of traditional fuels is one of the solutions to the crisis. At the moment, global warming is at 1.1 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial era, and leading climate experts have called for limiting the rising rate to 1.5 degrees. Otherwise, the planet will face even more natural disasters in the future.

The authors of the report suggested five possible scenarios according to which extreme events will intensify. In particular, the number of disasters will grow steadily, such events will be able to occur one after another, different types of disasters will occur simultaneously or in places where they were not previously observed. Also, the timing of disasters will become less predictable.

The document also describes other problems, including the disappearance of ice cover, an increase in sea water levels and other factors that can affect the acceleration of the pace of the crisis. It is assumed that the commission will draw up two more reports next year, which will describe the impact of climate change on humanity and ways to solve problems.
